By the time they can actually get testing kits out (and tests actually completed) we’re going to be past the surge in some spots.

There’s hundreds of thousands of pending tests sitting at labs right now waiting to be actually be run. Times are now 10-14 days to get test results back from private labs. Craziness.

As far as I’m aware in TN it’s reserved for critically ill patients. But I’m not actively treating anyone (for now...), just trying not to catch the rona if they come to the OR.

Ok let’s #realtalk for a sec but this seems like overkill for a #hoax if you want my opinion

I like how they’re playing up the scarcity of the $2.50 pills that are just basically lying around by reserving them for critically ill patients. Nice touch, LOL.

British Open canceled.

The Masters in April, the Derby in May, Wimbledon in June, Olympics/British Open in July. Next up is preseason football in August.

Something's got to be the first sport played, but it's going to take some pretty big testicles to be the one to do it.

At this point, we’ll all be waiting with bated breath in February to see if/when pitchers and catchers will report. So lame.

Our country needs sports ASAP. I’m not suggesting they bring back crowds, but they need to figure out how to give Americans something to forget about what’s going on right now for a few hours.

I agree - it's definitely time for another GYEROlympics. Our country needs this to happen.

Considering the advanced age of some of the original participants and the fact a few are no longer with us (R.I.P. Turbo K and ABH), if we hosted another I like Anth’s chances of cracking the Top 10.

I was top 10 both years. Top 5 in fact. Thanks.

-Well, it's obvious China not only lied but is still lying since every other country is fairing about the same other than them. Now reports from China(not verified) that this thing came from a lab. No chief, not on purpose. F*ck them. Willing to take a recession and spend a little more in the short term to teach that country the needed long term lesson.

-We'll get some type of sports like horse racing, Phil v Tiger, simulated Nascar, but crowds or large team sports aren't coming back anytime soon. Football is the most difficult, imo. There's just no safe way to do it until the stats shift.

-In my limited network people who had symptoms and want to be tested have been able to get tests. Believe that issue is over, or nearly over, as I posted yesterday. Don't have to stop with the first answer you get with telemed doctors. Just don't go walking into a doctor's office. IMO, try the private lab drive thru first.

-Zoom'd, with some of the crew last night. Nice to get some laughs in. Other than their little piracy hiccup, what a boom that company is experiencing. Was really hoping one of those dudes would drop in and start roasting us.

-Somewhat troubling but I'm absolutely fascinated by our response to an issue this large. It's unbelievable.

-Micheal Lewis on Covid. He's always a good read. "Lose your sense of smell, self isolate." https://sniffoutcovid.org/

This is a weird, weird thing. I'm done with snark and trying to be funny.

I hope all you idiots are ok. My suspicion is that we are going to see a lot of people die in the next two weeks and then things will subside. But we are in odd times. So who knows.

At some point I'd rather take my chances with a virus than have a government tell me ******** edicts but we shall see.

To every GYERO poster: have a take and don't suck.

The governor of Georgia yesterday said that he learned in the last 24 hours that asymptomatic people can pass the virus on to others. He said "This is a game-changer for us."

The “listens to science” vs. “skeptical/contrarian to everything to own the libs” divide in this country is gong to bare itself starkly over the course of this thing.

One thing's for certain: With all the "famous" people who have tested positive (multiple athletes, singers, media folks, etc.) the "total reported cases" for the US of ~215k is just a fraction of the number of actual people in this country who actually have it, which is undoubtedly in the millions. Add to that the number of people who had it and have recovered (this thing has probably been floating around the country since late last year) then the actual death rate is much lower than the official figure of roughly 2%. Estimates I've seen have it somewhere around 0.5%, and maybe even lower.

Glass half full?

Like those governors banning the use of medications - that saved our very own Kooky Kats - to own Trump?

New York may’ve been 9 days behind Italy, but GYERO is almost a month behind COVYERO:

... China’s chief bat virus researcher, who worked at the Wuhan lab, had all kinds of interviews about his job and how he was bit accidentally, peed on, etc. And the Chinese were known for lax security / decontamination lab practices in general and the international research community tried to keep them from operating this dangerous level of labs.

So the theory is that either a lab worker was accidentally infected and walked out with a virus, or the lower level custodial workers sold some of the dead bats from experiments as food at the nearby market.

This is all just internet speculation find the links for yourself if you’re interested.

- Also, “Carole Baskin” has two “comedy k’s” and you cain’t see the words without hearing his voice. Comedy K’s strike again.

So he didn’t ban them he just limited
Right. The link does a good job of explaining it. To me it looks as if the move is designed with the possibility that it is an effective treatment in mind.

What you don't want right now is a bunch of people who are nervous or hypochondriacs, going to their private practitioner, either pretending to have symptoms or looking for a doctor who is loose with writing scripts, and getting the stuff to make them feel better, or to horde it just in case. Nor do you want asymptomatic people or people with mild symptoms getting a script of something that's in limited supply. Especially when a doctor might prescribe it just to cover his ***.

Regulating a potential treatment medication and putting it in the hands of the ER and the hospitals is a means of allocating the resources before it gets raided like the toilet paper did. To me this is an example of news sites looking for clicks by trying to manufacture division.

The Michigan governor's attempt to do the same thing was ham-fisted. She wrote a letter to pharmacists warning that they needed to have a valid reason to prescribe it or they could face consequences. She walked it back a couple days later.

As far as I can tell no other governors have made similar moves, but if this treatment is effective, regulating it will be crucial.
