Montgomery’s defense has improved a bit. Doing a much better job guarding the perimeter on switches and such. Made some good hustle plays late against Louisville.

His rebounding has been terrible though which is why you can’t really play him at the 5.

I could excuse his play if he was giving great effort, wasn’t a complete *****, and took the shots he should be taking. Instead, he’s lazy, out of position, and takes terrible shots he has no business taking. That’s a perfect recipe to draw the wrath of BJW.

Yup. Nick Richards is playing great right now but (fatguy's drunk comments aside), I don't believe that anyone with any sense believes that he's suddenly a great player.

But he's easily the fan favorite because (1) he hustles his *** off and clearly plays with passion and (2) he's clearly dedicated himself to improving his game during his time here.

I mean, that kid was terrible when he got here but he's worked his *** off and it shows. That means a lot to BJW. There is a reason that the BBN named a team "The Unforgettables" that a pack of so-so players who gutted it out, played to the absolute best of their ability, and were ornery SOBs.

He plays good on ball defense but still atrocious off the ball. And I hate when he comes across the lane trying to block some garbage the other team is throwing up leading to a weak side rebound and put back.

That’s why I believe Sestina is just as good on defense. Yes, he gets beat one on one which is what fans focus on but at least he’s there.

Louisville used EJ’s confused off ball defense to get several wide open buckets.

Hope he isn’t taking the loss too roughly.

Richards is following the more traditional path...fans are just too spoiled/stupid to recognize it.

I don't think that is it at all. If anything, it is just nice to see a good kid develop at a normal pace and get it in his junior year.

Just awesome to see.

State hiring Butch Jones? Told you they were jealous of Ole Miss. Better they hired him than Dooley.

Shorts:

- The NFL Playoffs on Saturday for two weekends every January is by far my favorite part about the league.

- I’ve never hated the Patriots. I get why many do, but as my team has never been affected by their success, they’ve never bothered me. Still remember going back to Lexington for a Saturday after recently graduating- a buddy’s band was playing at Pazzo’s and the snow game between the Patriots and Raiders was on. And here we are now- I’m 40 and this is the end of the reign. Unbelievable.

- I’m not a coaching sartorialist by any means but I wouldn’t hire Matt Rhule just because of the way he dressed.

- :grimace: Dudes picking UK hats over Bama and Oklahoma.

- Loving UNC’s struggles.

- Hoping Juzang really is sick.

- Maxey is one of the damnest players I’ve watched here. An absolute stud in our biggest matchups and mediocre the rest. Intrigued by his March potential.

- Guards will be good to great. Richards is looking to be reliable. Really need one of our frosh wings to “get it.” Still plenty of time.

- Thinking dangerous 3-seed for Big Blue. We’ll see.

- As much as I love the holidays, always relieved to get back into my normal routine in early January.

- I’m now a first time uncle. My brothers-in-law had their daughter (surrogate). :)

- Denver in a few weeks for bro time.

- Taking the wife to see Les Miserables - her all-time favorite musical- at Aronoff in February.

- Weddings in Florida and Maine this year, and I’m sure a trip to San Francisco to meet the little one sooner than later. Nice little 2020.

- Final Fall 2019 Bourbon Season Tally:

Old Forester Birthday Bourbon
Blantons DEPs pick
Old Weller Antique Party Source pick
Woodford Double Doubled Oaked
Eagle Rare DEPs puck
Buffalo Trace Party Source pick
Stagg Jr.
McKenna 10 Year

I debated watching the golden globes last night, but glad I did. Ricky Gervais is the GOAT.

Halfway through the Messiah, better than I thought it would be.

Vegas next week for boat dad, it’s been too long.

-Ulis, contrary to popular belief, also played in a Final Four and is one of the 10 best players from the decade. Lamb will be underappreciated by anyone that's not a UK fan but we all know #8 isn't here without him.

-No one understands a joke any more. One side is pissed b/c he made fun of the wokes and the other thinks it's the greatest Trump victory of the year!!! And that's the how brilliant it is. Read the whole monologue, thankfully our smart people in Hollywood(the comedians) aren't backing down.

-College buddy in town for the weekend... with his buddy(went to UK)... and they brought 4 kids. :joy: Talk about a dose of realizing you're old. First time we've hung out with the families like that after countless get togethers post school. Great weekend though. First time his buddy had been back to UK since 2002, believe he pledged with SAECATFAN, so he was amazed at the transformation. His FOURTEEN:flushed: year old daughter is now obsessed with going to UK.

-One positive no one seems to mention is we have 5 dudes that can go for 20 any night. Once Cal finally commits to that 3 guard lineup we should be good to go. Still 1 dude short but who isn't?

-:raised_hands: at finally getting back to a normal schedule. Last Christmas gathering yesterday and we're officially done. Shew.

Came out with:
Elmer T Lee
Angel Envy Single Barrel Cask Strength
Oban
The Balvenie 12 Doublewood
New Riff
Weller Antique

Pretty sure Ricky never even mentioned Trump, but whatever feeds your talking points Anth.

I’m all for bashing THE RIGHT and THE LEFT because both extreme sides are absolute loser bitches. Both are the exact same level of snowflake pussies that can’t accept reasonable discussion without shutting down, screaming and whining, and throwing a fit about the other side. Whataboutism has crushed civil discourse in this country.

Nah, it's just made network news channels and social media(without properly filtering) a cesspool. The rest of us are doing pretty well while rolling our eyes at the fanatics.

Comedy is getting lazy.

I haven’t watched Gervais’ speech so not directed at him but my dang kids were watching “prank” videos on YouTube and it was just a guy being a shitbird to strangers. “I’m gonna walk behind this random guy and then knock his coffee out of his hand lol hilarious follow me on Twitter” No gag set up or anything like that. Ashton Kutcher and Allen Funt are rolling in their graves.

At some point in my life I'm going to irrationally fight someone over Tyler Ulis. He's the perfect point guard. I can't remember one time thinking "I sure wish he was taller right now."

I'm pretty far left and Gervais was hilarious.

One could argue- and I have- that Ulis was Cal’s best PG here. SEC Defensive POY, 1st Team AA. Intelligent. Savvy. Good shooter and playmaker. Played big in the tournament.
I can count on one hand the number of bad decisions he made in 2 seasons at Kentucky. That's not an exaggeration. He never hurt you. Also, in addition to being a big player in the tournament, he lived for carving up Louisville.

-it's rare to see an actual funny person take a shot at the powerful...point out their hypocrisy/relative ignorance. Usually those types just sit around in their echo chamber and smell their own farts.

-apple/nike et al do run sweatshops...whilst using compassion/"justice" to sell their products to people who care more about "feelings"/narrative than reality. They/their customers need to own it.

-ima go build a spreadsheet for 2020 now, gang.

Killed a couple hours the other day watching "golf course air horn" pranks. Now THAT is hilarious. Especially when you think about how pissed BBdK would get.

I've never trusted a player more than Tyler Ulis.

-I have one of those little canned airhorns I blast occasionally from my patio at select buddies teeing off. They don't enjoy.

Those Ghillie Suit dudes are funny, but they aren't quick enough on the trigger to affect the shot most times. Needs to be right at the top/start of the downswing for best results.
