Here comes a 30 point L because he is more concerned watching his son who he coached for 3 years.

<———- Watched friends on Netflix until about 9:30 then hit the hay. Feel great this morning. Haven’t seen one second of that game. Knew what was coming. Cal is in cruise control and is living off Anthony Davis being a freak. Can’t wait to see what his daughters have to say to the fans on twitter later [banana]

how’s Bruce Pearls Auburn Tigers looking this season?

Went to bed at my normal time and didn't watch a single second of the game. You could see a bad loss in a game where the Big Blue Nation was asked to go to Vegas or stay up all night on a Wednesday during the last work week of the year coming from a mile away.

Suckers.

I got up early to watch a game that was more boring than watching impeachment votes tally up on C-SPAN.

No offense, still sag on switches getting burned almost every time and yet another D Wade performance by guys you never heard of playing UK.

2019 will end on a skid for these guys. They are without a leader.

How’d The Dragon look? Cal was really praising him pregame. Says he’s gonna take us to another level, we don’t have player like him, etc. Sure fire alpha dawg *** lotto pick. He’s a great kid, too.

It's (accurate but) tiring to point out the poor 3pt shooting. Our teams without the very top players have had that one person to run something for that can often pull us out of the fire (Knox comes to mind, Murray for sure) and/or that second-year player that really brings something to the team (Washington, certainly Ulis). We could also hang our hats on defense.

Of those things, we have Hagans for that second-year role. We have athletes that can't or aren't playing stellar defense and this group doesn't seem to have that player that can just go get a basket when it's desperately needed.

I don't know if it's the players, the coaching or both... but that [poop] ain't ice cream that we're smelling.

Sad thing is- we’re not all that talented. 2020 Hagans is better than 2019 Hagans but besides that, last year is better at every damn position by A LOT.

And that was an Elite 8 team.

Utah had the two best players on the court.

Cal has to evaluate talent much better and/or develop it.

Hagans and Maxey are talents.

Brooks is a decent freshman, although not sure about his upside.

Richards and Montgomery are your typical overrated stiffs.

Quickly is nothing more than a backup.

Juzang is 4-year guy.

Whitney is an athlete masquerading as a basketball player.

Dude, y'all are amazing. Keep the stories coming. Who else is such a badass they purposely didn't watch a single second of the game last night?

Meh. F*** off.

UK thinking it was a great idea to schedule games in Las Vegas the week before Christmas and let the game be played at 11 pm EST on a Wednesday shows just how much the administration cares about the fanbase. Forgive me for reciprocating.

If this team was vintage Werepecker, I'd have stayed up and watched it because it would have been worth it. Instead we are a team with some potential that is really hard to watch right now.

If the product is sort of ****** and UK makes it hard to follow, it is what it is.

Little things that add up is what is so frustrating for me.

Against GTech I saw Hagans get to the FT line and pick a zone apart. Last night they zoned us from the 13 minute mark to the 4 minute mark, and I saw Hagans at the FT line area once.

That’s coaching and player unawareness.

When Cal says he's having practice early so he can watch Brad play I REALLY hope he means on TV and he's not flying to Detroit tomorrow night while the team is in Vegas.

I mean, I kind of hope he is.

Maybe gets stuck at a Dunkin Donuts at the airport and can't make it and the Wildcat pulls his head off and it's Tyler Ulis and he coaches the team to a blowout a la South Carolina. Just something I've been thinking about

You really can't overstate just how stale the one-and-done, "Players First" philosophy has grown, or how quickly. Ten years ago, Cal was way ahead of his time -- embracing those superstars when everyone else shied away from them. He could practically hand pick his class. Nowadays, everyone recruits one-and-dones. With that much competition, he can only do so much. It would be impossible to land the same caliber of class now that he did in his first season with Wall/Cousins/Bledsoe/etc. And to pile on an already struggling concept, we're pushing kids to move up a year in class and get here unprepared to contribute even earlier? WTF? Looking at you, Juzang.

The game has changed in the last decade, but Calipari's recruiting hasn't changed with it. That's painfully obvious with the lack of talent we see on the floor. Don't get me wrong, we clearly need to go after the best players every year, but you may want to zig when everyone else zags. Find JUCOs. Grad transfers. Maybe redshirt for once. Euros. Convince the 4-star guys to stick around until they graduate.

This team just isn't very talented, and it's all because of the way Calipari has built it.

This fanbase is the rare one that lives and dies every practice, exhibition and game from October on. So, it’s tough for us to play this long drawn out ripening ******** every year.

But if we get the payout of March success, we can suck it up.

When you start losing those S16 and E8 games, then the Nov-Feb haul becomes much less palatable.

More long winded rants.....last night was the perfect example of how terrible this bright lights/big city ******** prime time neutral site game idea is. There was absolutely nothing "big league" about playing f'ing Utah in Las Vegas. The attendance was so awful they closed the upper arena. The crowd was blah. And because this was a made-for-tv event, every time someone sneezed, there was a 5-minute timeout. It was boring enough to watch on television, so I can't even imagine how agonizing it was in person. Hope you f'ing rich ******** enjoyed the Kiss Cam, the Charlie out at halfcourt spinning plates on all 4 limbs plus her nose, the 2nd grade cheerleading squad, the co-ed free throw shooting contest, the Dance Off, and the fake referee acting like he's getting in a fight with the mascot.

You can all get pumped.

Put me on the F’ing bus.
Same, I don’t even know where to start.

I know one thing, tired of hearing about Brad. You put a team like 12 or 15 on the floor and you can reference you son in every answer to every interview, change your team’s schedule around his games, etc. You give us this mess? STFU and go fix your team.

We are poorly coached. I’ve never said that about a Cal team. Is he stubborn? Yes. Does he do things like not run out of bounds plays that are arrogant and ridiculous? Yes. But, usually we are well prepared and play hard. This team seems confused on both sides of the floor. I know making shots can fix a lot of that...but outside of Hagans, Sestina and sometimes Maxey we seem to be just a bunch of guys playing pickup ball and trying to figure out who has who while the other team scores. EJ looks like he doesn’t even attend practice.

We never adjust. When is the last time Cal called a timeout and we came out in a different defense? I guess we tried to press at the end and it was pretty effective but way too late.

Just maddening to watch us bleed out a game like that to inferior competition, with the competition looking so sure of what they are doing and us huddling and confused at every dead ball.

But did you hear Brad went 2-6 last night. Sure could use him! Lol

Optimistically- about the only thing you can lean on is our guards carrying us on a run. That means Maxey hitting shots- which I think will happen eventually. Unfortunately, this team is shaping up to be a lesser version of 2016 at this point.

Also, this is a unique fanbase because there is no NBA franchise that we care about. Cal is scheduling like this is Memphis and he shares the arena with the Grizzlies.

It matters to people to watch games in Rupp. Or at least it did until they started playing all the good games on neutral sites, etc.

I was watching Stoops' press conference and struck by how much better he resonates with the UK fanbase. He talks about a process, building the program, gets into specifics in an approachable way.

When is the last time anyone listened to Cal about anything? It is all just gimmicky horseshit.

It does sort of feel like the last few years of Tubby where what UK fans really wanted was for Tubby to act like he gave as much of a **** as the fans do and clean house and go on a warpath. Instead he turtled up and kept all of his assistants and didn't change a thing.

I have no idea if we have good assistants or not, and no one on here does. (Although Ritchie's hatred of Justus makes me laugh every time). But this program just reeks of complacency right now and it sucks to watch.

-well rested. Checked out gyero "game thread" at 6:30 this a.m. i chose wisely.

-welcome all the the "*****(reality) bus". We're observing the same trends year after year...is what it is.

-no hate. Glad Cal is the coach. Im no basketball...one of you that are may know of a coach that would work here better than the one we have.

-For me its that the results don't match the hype/bs. I was of the thought that the draft night/nba crap/players first circus was cal's recruiting schtick...i now think he was just telling the(his) truth.

-Like a lot of folks at the top it seems he's forgotten that nothing would be possible without the customer(fan base). Maybe TV money renders fandom obsolete, idk.

-joel williams announcing this afternoon. Thank god for UK football.

The only time we looked 'superior' to an average Utah squad was when this team finally showed a sense of urgency and starting playing frenetic defense. We're sadly unremarkable when we employ a base m2m defense. When we speed up the game and start forcing the issue, the game opens up and we start seeing players reading/reacting instead of second guessing. Does our ******** coach think he's coaching the 2005 Pistons?

It's the same effing thing over and over. While we sit back and let them dictate whatever set they want, the first on ball defender gets blown by. So in response to that...the 2nd guy loses his **** and over helps. That of course leads to an easy kickout for an open jumper. Rinse. Repeat. And then, Walton, for all his whack *** ****, nailed it last night. "Why is Kentucky double teaming the post?" Good question. Who on earth do they have on the block that demands us to leave wide open shooters and allow easy driving lanes? God Almighty.

Cal has certain ways he likes to deal with post defense and switching on screens and by god that’s the way he’s gonna do it, matchup/personnel be damned.

* Watched the first 10 minutes, and tried to go to bed, but couldn't sleep because I kept looking at my phone to see what the score was. Ended up falling asleep at the same time I would have if I'd just watched the game. Stupid.

* He has his lifetime contract, he has his HOF plaque, and he has his title. He's on cruise control.

* We'll get better, and will probably beat Louisville, and I'll get my hopes up again. Then in March, we'll lose 63-60 in the Sweet 16 to a team with half the talent and twice the experience when we play not to lose and go 2-13 from three. Then five players will leave early/transfer and we'll be right back here in 365 days pissed off that we went all the way to Europe to get beat by Michigan.

* $9M a year, and we...
  • can't run a cohesive offense;
  • can't shoot;
  • don't dictate the tempo;
  • arrange our practice schedule around Detroit F'ing Mercy games.

* The guy UK hired is gone forever.

The game has passed Cal by. It happens to the best of them. He'll continue to put competitive teams on the floor but he won't win another title. This is like watching Bobby Knight or Denny Crum in the 90s. Good teams but not the teams they put out in the 80s. Cal doesn't understand analytics and spacing. And have you heard the 3 Pointer has revolutionized the game? Heard that from Dickie V.
