Would be a huge boost if he plays. Hoping this is the year he breaks through. MSU is a great game to see where he’s at.

Won’t bother me if he skips Kentucky State to get 110 percent for MSU.

Man, I would hope that's not even an option, for him to play in a meaningless game.

Sounds like worst case scenario, he misses MSU and maybe a game after.. but he'll be fully ready for the rest of the season. That's big.. this could have been an "out for 4 weeks" thing and then have it linger all season.

There is no need to risk further injury for Richards in the game against Kentucky State. I cannot imagine that he would play. It is a game without significance.

With whirlpool baths, heat treatments, and the walking boot, I expect Richards to be better than 90% for Michigan State. We need him to have enough mobility and agility to avoid 1st half foul problems.

I suspect he won't play against MSU but that is OK . Not Ideal but ok it is just the first game against a great team BUT a great team missing some players as well. But glad he is ok realitively speaking .

Cal needs to stop switching on defense and our centers won’t get hurt 30 feet from the basket.

Richards not playing may be a good thing, it should place a bit more pressure on the other guys and see if they can step up and handle it. Everyone should know that injuries and foul troubles are going to rear their ugly heads eventually.

Yeah they don’t seem to rush any injury, with the greatest importance being the future games assured that he’s a 100%.
Two different sports, I know, but Cal and Stoops have completely different views of injuries to players. I'm not judging Cal or Stoops, just pointing out the difference in philosophies.

Never know with Cal. He could be out until the NCAA tourney. I have learned over the years not to believe one thing injury related that comes out.

he had better be playing. if he wants to skip Fairleigh-Dickinson, I don't care. BUT, THIS is a top-ten team on national TV. This is why you come to Kentucky. No excuses.

I'll be honest, when I personally hear day-to-day and we're only five days away from MSU, I don't think he plays Tuesday night. We need Richards for the long haul, and I doubt Cal let's him play unless he's 100% cleared to practice a day or two in advance. Hope I'm wrong and Nick heals quick! Either way, I think we give MSU all they can handle and come out with a win.

So the season hasn’t even begun and already we have an injured player. It certainly doesn’t sound too bad, but it’s following a trend we’ve had in recent years. We’re going to need all hands on deck for MSU.

Why wouldn't you say day to day. No reason to give MSU any info. I hope it was just a tweak to the ankle. Need the big guy to show us what hes got Tuesday.

LOL you mean a trend LITERALLY EVERY SINGLE TEAM DEALS WITH EVERY SINGLE YEAR? Actually UK has been very luckily as we have only had 1 player in 5 years miss any real time - Vanderibilt. Many teams lose multiple guys every year to season ending injuries . So lets not live in the land of Hyperbole.

Perhaps but a lot of those teams like UL actually have 13 players on scholarship and more margin for it.

I rolled my ankle in December. Had surgery in Sept and I am still dealing with it. Long story short, it was broken and the Ukranian and the Army Doc missed it. I walked on it for 8 months before it was found.

Nick is a 20 year old athlete with direct access to 24/7 healthcare and treatment. There is no report of fracture or ligament damage. He should tape it up and play.

Poythress and Nerlens.

I agree, though, in that we haven't had it worse than average.
