For now he can manage it. He’s an athletic freak. That weight over the course of a season over many seasons thats a recipe for disaster. If anyone has seen him live and playing he’s a monster to watch for sure. You just don’t see that power and frame and athletic ability very often Cousins just got weight. Lebron had to Kobe did. Michael Jordan did They had to to extend their career.

He will be okay
Waddle up the floor

Take every shot
Cause he is like the whole team

If all else fails waddle on the treadmill at Duke fat loss school.

I hear they can just cut that stuff off now. He will come out half the man he was...when needed...

I laugh so much when I see Owners and GM's fall for the espn hype on a recruit. How in the HECK was ZIon the top recruit over the long haul or even the short haul. I guess they will make a quick buck for a year or maybe two but that will be about it. I'd rather have Wiggins after that. jmusao (I am very uneducated about basketball strategy but this does not even pass the smell test.)

The best part is hes going to be out ANOTHER chunk of time with this injury.. so hes going to gain weight again. The only way he stays in this game is by playing it. When basketball players don't play, they get fat, just like Eddy Curry back in the 2000's with his own injuries.

I'm really starting to think that we'll never see Zion's potential. He'll gain weight, get injured because of it, and then gain more weight.

Said it last year and I'll say it again - he's playing the wrong sport.

Yes he's really good at basketball. But it's mainly athleticism. He could've been an other worldly DE on the football field. Seeing how easy he gains weight just confirms that even more. He could've been an explosive nightmare at probably 320+

And could have stayed home and played on a national championship team at Clemson.

You can say none of it matters or all of it matters. It matters in degrees. Plenty of rich people are never satisfied; plenty of broke people are very fulfilled. If Zion getting paid is all that matters, don’t know why they even play the games.
Well yeah, but if he gets booted from the NBA tomorrow, he's still set for life.

What he does with his millions is a completely different thing.

Most of these great players want more that just money, they want to be great and they want to leave their mark.

I don't know Zion, maybe he wants to he one of those guys, or, maybe he doesn't care.

Either way, he never has to worry about money and he never has to punch a clock for a living.

You don’t think he’s still working out? I guarantee he is. He’s sitting because he doesn’t need to play summer league.

I have a suspicion that if he doesn't lose some weight, his knees will give him some trouble in the not too distant future.

They've invented a dessert for turducken. Turducken is the cajun dish of a roasted chicken, inside of a roasted duck, inside of a roasted turkey. The dessert is a pie, baked into a cake. I am not making this up.

We all know when this kind of thing is said what it leads to.

Personally I never thought Zion took the game serious enough. I’m aware that as guys get older they soften, think everyone should just have fun. But that’s not how it works. If you’re laughing and smiling more than having a face of war, I don’t want you on my team personally. Think of Zion in your mind, is he smiling or does he look pissed off? Now think of Brandon Knight. That’s the guy I want. And he had a better college career, and I bet a better nba career, with half the talent.

I don’t think Zion takes the game seriously at all.

True about knight. He was a killer. Loved his fire.

Do not really GAS about Zion but Barkley was heavier at the beginning of his NBA career than when he was at his prime. I am sure Zion will drop a few during season.

Have been saying this since Christmas.
His is the only player that have watched, gain weight (bad weight) during a sporting season.
Even #22 (God rest his soul) didn’t gain weight during the season.

He needs to take the rest of the summer and get back into playing shape. This won’t bode well with pelicans fans that are still pissed about Davis. If I were him, I would go on a super strict diet and work our everyday to try and get under his playing weight at puke. Especially if I was making the kind of money he is. You can’t take off any time you have to be in great shape which he obviously is not. From a basketball fans perspective, it’s a shame because he is exciting to watch even though he’s a puke. If he’s not willing to put in the work, guys like Greg oden and Anthony Bennett will celebrate this. If I were him, I would do whatever it takes to look like Tom hanks in castaway. It’s got to be hard on his knees as well. This could set the pelicans back even further. Lebron is probably in tears right now since he is in love with Zion. I would also like to know if there is some type of weight clause in his contract. He’s definitely not the same player as he was at puke and if he doesn’t change, he will find himself in the gleague or overseas after his first contract
