But you think NR should be on the court and EJ should play spot minutes off the bench? That's what I'm taking from your posts.

Yes. Because Nick is a better defender under the basket. And I believe if you sub the newcomer in it will be a better mix. That's just my opinion based off what i've seen of his actual COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS.....I think EJ has to prove himself like bigtime.

Look at the lower right hand corner of each post. I think you may be asking a little too much for others to do your work for you. I don't mind once or twice but I am not your slave...

haha. slavery was abolished ! :p

I think the video pops up when you link youtube on here. It won't just show a link… .I think.

It shows up better than that. It is to the point of the dude can prove it to himself. I attempted a couple times but I am not his slave. If he cannot see the lower right hand corner to find the post (18), I could call it ...he doesn't want to. I lose patience for that sort quickly. He can do what he wants...

You do realize NR was probably caught out of position more than any player Cal has had here not named Skal, right?

That guy fell asleep and got lost on defense at least once on every play.

He lost Grant Williams in the SECT late in the game last year. Gave up a wide open corner 3 pointer.

That dude has a long way to go. EJ is far more polished on both ends of the ct

Oh, and yes I'll agree with you he's very good beneath the basket. Seriously, who were those teams we were playing in your videos?

Nah, you're right....we should now base our achievements against such monstrous challengers like Transylvania. How dare I argument this! Hard to believe you would provide a clip of EJ playing frigg'n Transylvania....but hey...whatever's clever Trevor.

Montgomery is the better rim protector. I put him in the post on defense.

On offense, Blackshear and Montgomery will take turns in the post and on the perimeter. That's the only way to give both a chance to shine for the scouts.

Stop with that crap. ....good grief. that's old HS crap ...he was a foot taller and the game was effortless. good grief.

So, moving forward, nobody is ever allowed to post high school highlights of talented prospects? Going by that logic, nobody should ever be allowed to watch any of John Wall's high school highlights and notice that he was supremely talented.

You never said to show college highlights, you said to show his talent. I did. That video talks a lot about Montgomery's strengths and weaknesses, his journey throughout middle and high school, and also shows highlights of some things he did well in HS. Calipari also recently said that Montgomery is probably one of the most talented/gifted/players with most potential he has ever coached.

For the record, I'm not 100% sold that Montgomery is going to be a world beater next season, but don't act like he just doesn't have talent. I feel like with him, it will come down to how hard he wants to work, and whether or not that talent actually materializes.

Said this May 29th:

Blackshear/Richards- 25/15
EJ/Sestina/Brooks- 25/15/spot
Whitney/Brooks/Juzang/Allen- 25/10/5/spot
Maxey/Quickley/Juzang-25/5/10
Hagans/Quickley-25/15

Mins per game
Blackshear- 25
Whitney- 25
Hagans- 25
Maxey- 25
EJ- 20 to 25
Quickley- 20
Richards- 15
Sestina- 15
Juzang- 15
Brooks- 10 to 15
Allen- spot minutes

I'm pretty confident in this based off 6 "veteran" players (assuming Blackshear comes). These guys will get bulk of minutes + Maxey/Whitney.

I think Juzang and Brooks will make an impact and could leap some people but to start the season I see them as 9th and 10th guys unless there is foul trouble.

I just don't expect Allen coming back from his injuries (historically there has been a delay with Cal guys coming back quickly) to contribute a ton this season....hope I am wrong!

First off, watch them both play.

Secondly, statistically speaking:

Montgomery- 1.0 block in 15 minutes per game. 38 total blocks this season.

Blackshear- 0.8 blocks in 29.9 minutes per game. 28 total blocks this season.

I know blocked shots do not tell the whole story, but watch Blackshear. He does not really alter many shots, either. He didn't in the games I saw from him. Plays more like Travis on defense than Montgomery or Richards.

How is there a thread allowed to stand that is ripping a sophomore player who averaged what 12 min a game last year? Ej Montgomery was a top 10 recruit last year and had very little opportunity to showcase why. If ej is in the lineup 25 mins a game last year he probably would have been a first rounder this year. The guy has all the tools he just needs time on the court. Not 6 games straight but an entire season on the court. I think Sestina will really have to shine to get many minutes and a 3 man rotation between the 4 and 5 is very manageable. Then there is Sestina for depth. Fouls injuries will happen and there will be more than enough minutes to go around. It’s way too soon to make any judgement about ej without seeing him play substantial minutes which he will this season.

Quite similar to my numbers.

G Hagans(25)/Quickley(15)
G Maxey(25)/Juzang(10)/Quickley(5)
F Whitney(20)/Brooks(15)/Juzang(5)
F Blackshear(25)/Sestina(15)
F Montgomery(25)/Richards(15)

Hagans- 25

Blackshear- 25
Montgomery- 25
Whitney- 20
Quickley- 20
Brooks- 15
Richards- 15
Sestina- 15
Juzang- 15

I don't how Allen gets anything more than coming in the occasional last minute of the game with Canada and Payne. Just too much talent on the wing in front of him and his injury has bound to have put him behind.

Exactly. Well said. I think Allen will have a great career at UK...I really do. I just don't see how coming back from an injury now while competing against a team full of McD AA's is going to work out year 1. No matter who he is, he'll be fighting out of the corner from jump. Truthfully, if this is the case it would surprise me if he, gasp- redshirted.

Cal will work his magic, but if we get Blackshear we definitely have some playing time concerns. We have 10 guys that would expect/deserve playing time: Hagans, Maxey, Quickley, Juzang, Whitney, Brooks, Sestina, EJ, Blackshear, Richards, and maybe Allen. That would be 11 guys and I would think Cal would work it down to only 8 or 9 guys getting significant minutes. I think the odd men out getting very limited minutes would be Richards and Allen. Luckily, Cal has been outstanding at managing playing time in the past.

He probably won't redshirt, unless he is feels he isn't 100%.

It is funny how it has changed though. There used to be little stigma involved with it but now it seems it is looked at poorly or something. Honestly, I think it serves a better purpose than riding the bench from a confidence standpoint....especially considering the constant roster turnover at UK.

And here comes Wall2booger to the rescue. Do you not find it amazing how much time you spend talking about others vs maybe taking a hard look at yourself? This was a good conversation until you and dumber showed up.

What's funny is because of your obvious popularity you get to start off conversations that are so idiotic yet because of your "fame" it's obvious that you are either kidding or that nobody is stupid enough to believe anything you say....yet you just can't stand when someone disagrees with you. You're the playground bully dude. I personally don't give a rat's a$$ what you think.

EJ and Blackshear will make up a formidable frontcourt. Noway Nick and Blackshear start together that's two legit centers.

Blackshear isn't coming here to be a 5. He's being sold the P.J. Washington role; to be the focal point of the front court offense, with inside-outside touches.

For that reason, we may see more of Richards than most in this thread seem to think. Cal is going to want his 5 five man to protect the rim and rebound. Whoever does that better between Richards and Montgomery is going to get the majority of the minutes. Since neither guy has shown much consistency, it will likely be a game-by-game basis on who gets the most minutes. But that spot is not going to be an offensive priority, which may actually give Richards the edge.

Hagans, Maxey and Quickley will take all the minutes they can handle in the backcourt.
Whitney and Brooks will split time at the 3.
Blackshear will play all the minutes he can handle at the 4.
Montgomery and Richards will split time at the 5.
Sestina and Jurzang will have to fight for their minutes, obviously getting more time on nights where we need a boost from the outside.
